Our Core Values

One of our core values at Highpoint Fitness is creating a welcoming and comfortable atmosphere for anyone who wants to work out.

That’s why we are so excited to partner with Special Olympics of Western Pennsylvania! Special Olympics provides children and adults with intellectual disabilities the chance to live happier, healthier, and longer lives.

How to Sign Up

If you or a family member are interested in participating in our Special Olympics program at Highpoint Fitness, you need to complete a few simple steps.

  • Confirm Eligibility

    To train at Highpoint Fitness, athletes must be 6 years old or older and have an intellectual disability, a cognitive delay, or a developmental disability.

  • Complete the required medical form

    All Special Olympics athletes are required to complete a Medical Form, which requires a physical examination by a physician. You can find the form here.

  • Sign Up for the Highpoint Fitness Program

    You can sign up for one or all of our Highpoint Fitness training activities by completing this form.

I signed Michael up for the Special Olympics Boot Camp. Some people thought that he could not do the bootcamp, but he wanted to try. I told him if he didn’t like it, he didn’t have to continue. On the first day, Grant had Michael up and walking on a treadmill which I thought he would never be able to do. Michael comes out of bootcamp with a big smile on his face and cannot wait to go back.

Highpoint is a place for everyone no matter your ability level. I enjoy motivating and challenging each athlete during our pickleball, basketball, and boot camp sessions. Each and every Special Olympics athlete that has stepped foot in Highpoint has been nothing but a joy to work with!

The mission of Special Olympics PA is to provide year-round sports training and competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy, and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills, and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes, and the community.
